It's that time of year! Time to clean up things a little bit and it's always so freeing. The other night I decided it was time to work on my cosmetic cabinet, since what goes on your skin can play a key role in your health. Skin is your body's biggest organ and it is said that it absorbs up to 60% of what you put on it, so think critically about it's health more so than simply putting on the occasional sunscreen when you go outside. I have had my share of skin problems, so it is important for me to make sure my skincare is effective, inexpensive, simple and non-toxic. Here are 3 things that I am excited about this spring:
- EWG.org/skindeep is a great website to guide you in how toxic or how clean your cosmetics are. My latest discovery is that they have an app! I am totally THRILLED about this, because that means I can just scan something when I am at the store. Before I had a smart phone, I would spend lots of time researching what to buy and where to buy it, but this has been great. Please check it out!
- I decided to chuck my whole bin of nail polish that I have not used in years. Out with the old toxic stuff and in the with new clean colors. I discovered Keeki Pure and Simple; a company that has fun nail polish, body lotion, and lip balm that won't be harming your body.
- The Honest Company is awesome. I use a lot of their products and I feel so safe using them. A neat perk is that you can get a bundle and save money when it comes regularly to your door. You can control how frequently it comes, so I love just ordering as the needs arise.
I can't even tell you how long I have had some of the things that I've trashed...it was definitely time to "clean" things up.
